Why do I need to register?
Posted by Katie MacDonald on 11 August 2009 08:55 AM

All athletes and volunteers participating in Special Olympics activities must be registered with Special Olympics Ontario. Registration with Special Olympics Ontario is simultaneous with registering with Special Olympics Canada.

Annual registration fees will not be charged for ongoing programs to athletes, however, participation fees may be charged to help offset specific program costs and competitions may charge a registration fee. Athletes will not be denied the right to compete due to financial inability.

Some Benefits of Registration:

Eligibility to train in Special Olympics Ontario programs, eligibility to compete in Special Olympics Ontario competitions/events, protection under the guidelines of Special Olympics insurance policy in the event of injury or accident, becoming a member with Special Olympics Ontario
