What are the Volunteer Age Requirements?
Posted by Katie MacDonald on 11 August 2009 08:46 AM

In order to volunteer for Special Olympics Ontario you must be 14 years or older. You must be registered with Special Olympics Ontario as a volunteer.

If you are between the ages of 14 and 18 years old, you are NOT required to complete a Police Reference Check.

However, volunteers between the ages of 14 and 18 will be supervised during their volunteer hours.

If you are 18 years of age and over, an original copy of the Police Check must be sent to the Provincial Office to get registered. Before sending your original Police Check to Special Olympics Ontario, make a copy of it for future use (Special Olympics will not send a copy of it on your request once it is filed).

Volunteer Opportunities include: Training, School/Agency Coordinator, Public Relations, Unified Sports Partner, Fund-raising, Games Management Team, Chaperoning, Officiating, Office Support, Medical Support, Event Volunteer, Recruiting athletes, Families & Volunteers.
