About Us
Through the power of sports, people with intellectual disabilities discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. Our athletes inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
Programs
Special Olympics Ontario offers a variety of impactful programs, including health initiatives, school-based programs, and Hometown Games, each contributing to the overall mission of promoting inclusion and well-being.
Games
Special Olympics dedicates itself to year-round sports training and competitions in Olympic-style sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These events provide ongoing opportunities for physical fitness, courage, joy, and meaningful connections with the global community. We take pride in our consistent support and organization of these central games in the Special Olympics journey.

"The relationships I've developed with the athletes and coaches over the past 10 years are some of the most special ones I have. It's very rewarding to help the athletes achieve their goals and we have a lot of fun at practices and tournaments. I look forward to the start of a new season just as much as the athletes do."

Gisele Lumsden, Floor Hockey Coach

"SO school programs really give my students a place to shine. They see the other sports teams competing and now they are able to do that as well. It helped them with their self-esteem, confidence, and enjoyment of the game."

Crystal Peiman, John Diefenbaker Senior School

"I have been teaching for 34 years. My affiliation with the Special Olympics has been a highlight of my career. I am retiring but will continue to promote and support the Special Olympics." -
